Opportunities for trotting and canteringDescription: Explore the incredible West Coast countryside on horseback. Native bush, sandy river beaches and fresh water creeks are all part of this awesome horse trekking experience. Opportunities for trotting and cantering along the sandy banks of the Buller River for confident and experienced riders.
We have well cared for horses to suit most abilities and give tuition to novice riders.

We provide competent guides, footwear and helmets. We have a minimum age of 11 years unless child has some riding experience.
Also available from our Adventure Centre in the Lower Buller Gorge is jetboating, whitewater rafting and quad biking tours - book more than one activity and receive `multi trip` discounts.

Punakaiki Horse Treks

Punakaiki Horse Treks, West Coast of the South Island, New ZealandDescription: Horseback riding to the foot of the Pancake Rocks, Punakaiki. Ride within the spectacular Paparoa National Park - with abundant birdlife and rivers crossings. Modern stables with fit willing horses suitable for all abilities. Novice riders welcome. Some tuition given.

We offer 2 rides per day, morning and afternoon, both are 2.5 hours long with shorter and longer rides by arrangement.

Glacier, as you trek over lush farmland, glacial moraine and riverbed.
Our trekking guides are very experienced riders and fully understand that if you are accustomed to being on horseback you will expect to enjoy your ride at a faster pace than a walk.
Our aim is to make your ride the unforgettable experience you deserve. Treks are tailored to suit both the non-rider and the more experienced horse person.
Our Appaloosa horses are quiet and well mannered making them suitable mounts for even the most nervous rider. Treks progress at a safe pace, adjusted to your level of experience and vary in length from 1 to 6 hours, all year round.

The Homestead Farm Stay

No experience is needed, and all ages catered for.Description: We invite you to our Farm on the bank of the Rough River in the province of Westland in the South Island of New Zealand.

We have 10 quiet farm horses. No experience is needed, and all ages catered for.

Treks are available from one hour to a full day along the banks of the Rough River -- beautiful scenery following old cattle and pack tracks through beech forest and river flats.
