Honey House Nectary

private courtyard garden & deckDescription: The Honey House apartment is spacious, colourful and light. Open plan living, original art & creative design – a unique find in a tranquil rural setting 10 minutes from Nelson City Centre. It is self-contained & very well appointed with a full kitchen & bathroom, telephone, TV, internet capabilities, private courtyard garden & deck, great views and lots of sun in a secluded valley close to the city.
Guests have plenty of room to stretch out exploring the stream & hilltops with stunning vistas of Tasman Bay and the mountains or enjoying a relaxing session in the streamside sauna, letting the water’s melody enchant you. Go horse riding into the nearby hills, learn about farm activities or simply enjoy the tranquillity and delicious cuisine.

On The Farm: The property of Celli Gadarn was once a working apiary of 500 beehives. The Honey House itself is charmingly infused with the character of its former life where honey extraction took place. It is a rustic building clad with oiled redwood, and set amongst 50 acres of beautiful countryside. Now the bees are gone and our focus is on restoration of the native forest. We also run a small flock of Romney sheep & friendly farm animals and grow a large variety of fruits, nuts and vegetables, organically.

Location: [map here] We are 10 minutes north of Nelson City Centre
Prices: From 1st October 2006: NZ$120 per night Double, NZ$85 Single. Includes gourmet breakfast - vegetarian, vegan, raw & organic optional.

Ora

Karst LandscapeDescription: We are located on the Takaka Hill, 700 metres above sea level in a landscape of weather worn ancient marble outcrops. Here you can feel removed from everyday life, but not remote, with views across Tasman Bay. Just down the road Peter Jackson shot scenes of `Chetwood Forest` in his Lord of the Rings movie. Abel Tasman National Park and Kahurangi National Park, two ecotourism areas are on our doorstep where tramping and kayaking are popular outdoor activities.

We are friendly and welcoming New Zealanders who have chosen to live in this beautiful place and wish to share it`s mysteries with others.

A non - smoking guest suite with two double bedrooms, bathroom and lounge is available in a separate part of the house so you can choose your own level of interaction or privacy. This area is comfortable and tastefully decorated and has it`s own tea and coffee making facilities, fridge, TV and views over farmland, native bush, the sea and mountains. The suite is let as a whole to - one person, couple or group, so you will not need to share with strangers. Dinner is available by prior arrangement and at an extra charge and of course a suitable breakfast is provided in the morning.

On The Farm: We are still developing our farming enterprise. An area of approximately 8 hectares is now fenced and we have cows and calves grazing. We are developing an organic garden close to the house with an operational `chook tractor` with three laying hens. Living with us at Ora are our Tonkinese cat Seiki, Ace the Kelpie dog, several Quail couples, abundant native birdlife and the occasional wild surprise! Most of the 40 hectare property is being actively encouraged back to indigenous Totara and Beech forest.
