Description: The Wairere Boulder Valley is composed of thousands of basalt boulders with sizes up to 30m. They are marked by chemical leeching and are stacked on top of each other, filling a complete valley.
A walkway - going over many bridges, steps and stairs - leads you over, under, between and around the boulders to the back of the valley, onto a platform from where you can enjoy the view over the valley. On your walk partly through dense subtropical bush you can enjoy a huge range of native trees, ferns, mosses, fungi, bryophytes lichens and birds. You can walk the valley without a guide, or hire your personal guide.
