Sleep in one of the four cabins or book a bunk bed in our cosy Eastland backpackerDescription: Between horses, piglets, sheep and many more animals, you find our cosy backpacker. Sleep in one of the four cabins or book a bunk bed. Go on our horse trek (See more about our horsetrekking on The TrueNZ Guide to Horsetrekking), make your own Maori bone carving necklace and order a traditional Hangi meal. After all these activities, you can have a nice hot shower and light the outside fire for a night under the stars. We welcome you to experience our Ngati Porou hospitality!

Prices: We have 2 dorms (sleep 8) for $23 per person, 4 cabins (sleep 4) $25 per person. Tent and campervan sites $10 per person.

Mobe's Backpacker

Description: Accommodation beside the sea, spectacular rocky coastline, to the west view volcanic white island (Whakaari) and in the east the light house at Cape Runaway from the dinning room window. Access to beaches and bush. Fishing from rock or boat. Guided adventure bush tours from 1 hour to 1 day to 1 week. Night time activities - glow worms, eeling, possum hunting, star gazing through telescope, beach fires and celebration.

Peacock Lodge

Description: Across the road from the famous Morere Hot Springs. Enjoy a bit of real East Coast country hospitality. Beautiful old farmhouse brought back to life. Surrounded by trees and Scenic Reserve. Relax and do nothing or explore the district. Bush walks, mountain bikes for hire, caving trips in the summer, close to Mahia Peninsula (famous for its fishing and surfing). Lots of animals and an owner/operator who loves books, music, talk and planting trees.

Peacock Lodge and the Morere Hot Springs are on the main road (State Highway 2) 57km south of Gisborne and 40 km north of Wairoa. Daily bus services go past the front gate.

Along with the 14 bed (5 bedroom) backpacker lodge there is a self-contained cottage that will sleep 4. Excellent beds, free washing facilities. Computer available for email etc.
