The NZ Army Band fly with them a week before Christmas every each playing Christmas Carols over a selected Canterbury town. Many weddings and numerous proposals happen aboard the balloon basket.
Most balloon flights commence at daybreak. This is normally the gentlest and the coolest part of the day. Normal balloon flight experiences are up to four hours, of which about one hour is the actual flight. At the flight conclusion the passengers celebrate with a "buffet champagne style breakfast" as a picnic in the farmers field. A Flight Certificate, Information Sheet and In Flight Photos are offered at the conclusion of the venture. Aoraki Balloon Safaris at Methven welcome Non Flying Ground Passengers, for anyone who does not wish to fly.
